The Sacrament of Matrimony, or Marriage, is a sacred covenant entered into freely by a husband and a wife. In order for a marriage to be valid, the husband and wife must honour the integrity of the Sacrament by honouring each other for the rest of their days as well as accept children lovingly from God and bring them up according to the law of Christ and His Church.
“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptised persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a Sacrament.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601).
Weddings are conducted according to the rites and teachings of the Catholic Church.
